Hello everyone!

So today, I’m finally getting to share with you all the Pokémon Go Book Tag created by Aentee @ Read At Midnight! When I saw that she created this tag I wanted to do it that day! But unfortunately summer classes got in the way and so I just had time now to complete the tag 🙂 But I’m super excited to share with you all my picks for this super fun book tag!

Pokémon Go brings back memories of being glued to my GameBoy Color trying to beat the game (which I haven’t done, but this new game is making me seek out my Color to try again). I had the Pokémon Blue GameBoy game, so of course Squirtle will always be my go-to Pokémon! My memories go back even further to the massive stack of Pokémon cards that I had. I don’t think I ever really played with them correctly? I can’t quite remember. I believe it was second grade when they all came out or got popular in my school. I do remember that I wanted to “collect them all” haha so I had a ton of Pokémon cards that I eventually sold at a yard sale when I was in middle school. I do remember hoarding onto the “cute” Pokémon. They were definitely my favorite. Also this brings up memories of CrazyBones…anyone else remember that childhood craze as well?

Anyway, as far as the actual Pokémon Go game goes, I haven’t been the superstar player of my childhood days. I’m only on level 9 as I keep forgetting to play. Plus, the game really does drain your battery even with the ‘battery saver’ option on. I’m sure I’ll play some more once I have more time to roam around, but as for now I’m okay at being a low level. I am also more focused on “collecting them all” haha instead of battling or anything. I just like hoarding them and trying to find new ones haha.

Anyway onto the tag!

pokemon-tag-01starters

Starters!! Ah the elusive starters that everyone tries to get a hole of within the game. I always pick Squirtle (even after I knew you could try and get Pikachu) as mentioned above. He’s my go-to Pokémon because of my nostalgic playing of the Blue Pokémon GameBoy game. Most times I don’t even like evolving him because he looks so cute in his original form haha. But let me know who’s your favorite starter below!! I love to see who everyone picks first 🙂

~

This one is a bit tricky. My childhood memory of reading is a bit fuzzy, but I do distinctly remember trying to struggle through Shiloh when I was younger. That was one of the first books I can remember reading on my own. I also remember a Christmas picture book called The Small One that I was obsessed with because of the donkey. I have a slight obsession with animals haha. Outside of this, I think my grandparent, parents and the local library are the true “books” that started my love of reading. They all played a major part in why I love to read today.

I also have to shout out to Ann Rinaldi, whose books I devoured from the library as well as the Harry Potter books which also played an important role in my love of reading 🙂

pokemon-tag02pikachu

Seriously Pikachu is just so darn cute! Of course he’s as allusive as ever on Pokémon Go. I’m sure one day I’ll find him though 🙂

~

An iconic classic that I’ll always love will have to be Pride & Prejudice. For some reason, this story remains my favorite love story. I love reading modern adaptations, fanfiction, etc. of this story. I also try and read the classic version at least once a year. It’s truly a favorite of mine 🙂 I also have to steal Aentee’s answer for this one as well and say the Harry Potter series because that is a series I will always love and keep close to my heart. Incidentally, I read both of these books/series when I was in middle school. Of course I read Harry Potter a little bit earlier and I’m sure I didn’t quite grasp everything out of P&P, but I was definitely reading them during pivotal points in my life — when books became more than just a pleasant afternoon spent, but something I clung to in order to escape from the everyday.

pokemon-tag-03-zubat

To be honest, Zubats aren’t really everywhere for me. Yes, they’re a bit more common then most, but the Pokémons all around me are Pidgeys, Spearows, and Weedles haha I have a ton of these Pokémons! Anyone else have a different “everywhere” Pokémon?

~

Ok so for this one, don’t hate me but the book I’ve kind of lost interest in are the Mortal Instrument series. I did read books 1-3 of the series, but I’m having trouble finding motivation to go back and read the rest of the series. I know I should, but I’m just ugh not in the mood anymore. Maybe next year or the year after? The fandom for this series is strong though so I might get pressured into finishing it sooner haha. On the flip side of this, I’m still really interested in reading the Infernal Devices series though! I just don’t have all the books yet, so I can’t plunge into it.

pokemon-tag-04-ditto

So I haven’t seen this Pokémon anywhere! Then again, I’m not playing hardcore. But I know it’s out there because someone in NYC already found all the Pokémon, so it must exist haha

~

Okay so for this one the first book that comes to mind is The Crown’s Game. Apparently it is a lot like The Night Circus which I haven’t read yet, but plan to. With that said, this book still had a lot of the same YA tropes that a lot of the Fantasy books seem to have — a slight love triangle with a badass female main character who tends to be stronger than all the guys in the book (cue Graceling, Throne of Glass series, Truthwitch). That’s not to say that I don’t love that trope, because clearly I do haha. I also really loved this book even though it wasn’t the best fantasy book out there. I just loved it so much and I’m so not ashamed of that at all 🙂

pokemon-tag-05-snorlax.png

Okay, does anyone else think that Snorlax is super adorable? I equate him with a big stuffed teddy bear that I just want to hug like a little girl! haha

~

Okay this will be another one I’m sure I’ll get yelled at for, but a series I haven’t started because of the sheer size is the Outlander series and the Game of Thrones series. Both of which I desperately want to read, but haven’t because the size of these books and series have left me slightly intimidated! I need to get on them I do, but I’m thinking maybe once school is over so I can spend the evenings stress free while immersing myself into these worlds. I know I have a few friends who want me to desperately reads these sooner haha.

pokemon-tag06-gengar

A purple Pokémon! Need I say more 🙂

~

So for this one I wasn’t sure if it meant like a scary story that left me unable to fall asleep or a book I spent all night reading. So, I took my cue from the creator, Anetee and went with the latter.

I could say a bunch of books had me reading in the wee morning hours, mainly because I’m a night person and love staying up reading anyway. But for the purposes of this tag, I’m going to pick a recent read that I literally did not want to stop reading, but my sleepiness got the better of me and I eventually had to fall asleep haha. So that recent read was Evil LibrarianI’ll be doing a review on it shortly, but just know that it was so much fun to read & I loved everything about it!

pokemon-tag07-nidokingqueen

Okay I just have to say that this couple looks so much cuter in their “baby” forms before evolving! Just adorbs haha

~

So this one for me was a no brainer! I absolutely adore Cat & Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Those two are just awesome together! I have so much love for them & this series by Jeaniene Frost. Ugh I cannot even put into words haha. If you like paranormal romance, then I definitely suggest this series 🙂

pokemon-tag08-rapidash

Gah I love this Pokémon so much! I was super excited when I caught a Ponyta coming home from class/work one night. Someone had set up a lure nearby at one of the Pokémon stops near my apartments. I just had to walk slightly past my apartments to “reach” the Pokémon stop and I was able to entice Ponyta with some rasberries and “catch” her/him! I’m sooooo excited to have a Ponyta in my collection 🙂

~

So a relatively recent fire-hot, fast-paced read for me was IlluminaeIt may have took a bit to get into the story and used to the way it was written, but afterwards it took off and I was glued to the pages! I cannot wait for the sequel to hit stores!

pokemon-tag09-eevee.png

Okay, next to Squirtle, I think Eevees are my favorite Pokémon. She/he is just so cute! I’m also excited to eventually evolve one of them into one of the three different Eevee evolutions. I’m planning on evolving Eevee into a Flareon first, but love the Vaporeon and Jolteon evolutions just as much!

~

Okay for this one, I’d have to say I’ll never get tired of the different novels/series that take place in the Night Huntress world by Jeaniene Frost as well as the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward. I could stay in those worlds for a very long time! And even though I haven’t read these yet (I know, I know, I need to get on them!), I think that the Percy Jackson series would be something I wouldn’t mind seeing spin-offs of as there are already a few different series within the same world.

pokemon-tag14-magikarp

I’ve been on a hunt for one of these since they apparently keep popping up in my “feet trails” whenever I’m near my apartment, but one hasn’t ever popped up to be caught yet.

~

So, I have two for this one! One book that im surprised I liked more than I was going to Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. I wasn’t sure if I was going to love this one or not because of all the hype surrounding it, but I actually did end up really liking it.

Even more recently I decided to check out the Lunch Lady graphic novel series. I wasn’t sure how this one would go, but I knew a lot of kids liked the series. So I picked up book 1 and read it feather quickly but ended up enjoying it anyway. The humor and storyline is quite clever and I chuckled a lot 🙂

pokemon-tag12-legendary.png

Two series I’m still excited to read despite being over hyped are the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and the Percy Jackson series. I own the first book of each of these series but have only read the first ToG book. I’m in desperate need of catching up on these series. I am luckily in a readalong for ToG, just behind schedule. I’m hoping to marathon the books near the end of August. As for Percy, I am going to try and read through at least his series sometime this year 🙂

pokemon-tag15mew-mewtwo.png

Okay I’m definitely a bonafide book hoarder. So just give me all the books 😂 Hmm but if I’m being honest I like to collect almost any version of Pride & Prejudice so any edition of that I’d glad take haha. Also, I’d love to have the UK versions of Harry Potter, like the first editions 😍 Also the Junioer Books collection of HP are pretty too 😂😊

pokemon-tag10-egg

Okay so whenever I’m trying to hatch an egg it always freezes on me 😭 so I’ve never seen one of my eggs hatch but I usually can see the new Pokémon appear in my list of Pokémon. Anyone else have this problem? Also I kind of love how you have to walk to hatch these guys!

~

A debut novel I’m really excited about (even though it’s already out) is A Star-Touched Queen. I don’t know why I haven’t read this one yet but I can’t wait to get my hands on it and read it! I’m also excited about How to Hang a Witch which I’ve heard is fabulous!!

pokemon-tag11-lure-module

Oh the illusory lure. I say illusory because there’s always a lure happening at a Pokémon stop near my apartments, but my apartments don’t allow me to “reach” the stops from where i and. My actual street is a Pokémon stop dead zone 😂😭 I’d have go walk to the end of my street and usually up the block to get close enough to a stop which might not be the best thing to do at night alone 😂

~

My auto-buy authors include: J. L. Armentrout, Jeaniene Frost, Victoria Schwab, Maggie’s Stiefvater, Susan Dennard, Sarah J. Maas, J. K. Rowling, Sarah Dessen, and Brigid Kemmerer.

It always sucks to see this message, but I heard they’re working on getting someone to help fix their servers. Also recently I haven’t come upon this as much as before.

~

So there hasn’t been a book I’ve been waiting on for forever. Most books have been coming out in a timely fashion 😂 For TV though, I’m desperately waiting for a new season of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries!

Thanks for stopping by and reading my choices for this awesome tag! It was a long one, so if you read it through thanks even more! Let me know if you’ve done this tag too and I’ll check it out! Also let me know your favorite Poémon if you have one 😊

Also, if you’re interested, Aentee is hosting a Pokémon Indigo League Read-A-Thon. I’ll be signing up (stay tuned for tomorrow’s post), but if you want to as well then check out the sign up post here.

Happy Pokémon Hunting! & Remember to be safe while playing!

Also, Happy Book Hunting! haha 🙂

So many amazing choices here! I have seen this tag floating around and this is the first time that I have read a post for it. There is definitely quite a bit of thought to this one and I am thinking that I may have to try it some day!

I have wanted to read The Crown’s Game and I just worry that it is going to disappoint me. Maybe I will get it from the library to see if I enjoy it before a big purchase. Also, I am jumping up and down happy that all of our Truthwitch hype did not alter your enjoyment of it because it is pretty awesome! 🙂
