C H E C K out what I can’t wait to get my hands on next! This week’s book is already out in stores, which I know is kind of cheating, but since I still don’t own my copy just yet I’m still going to feature it 😉
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you can highlight upcoming releases that you are eagerly anticipating!
Odd & True by Cat Winters
Synopsis (via GoodReads): Trudchen grew up hearing Odette’s stories of their monster-slaying mother and a magician’s curse. But now that Tru’s older, she’s starting to wonder if her older sister’s tales were just comforting lies, especially because there’s nothing fantastic about her own life—permanently disabled and in constant pain from childhood polio.
In 1909, after a two-year absence, Od reappears with a suitcase supposedly full of weapons and a promise to rescue Tru from the monsters on their way to attack her. But it’s Od who seems haunted by something. And when the sisters’ search for their mother leads them to a face-off with the Leeds Devil, a nightmarish beast that’s wreaking havoc in the Mid-Atlantic states, Tru discovers the peculiar possibility that she and her sister—despite their dark pasts and ordinary appearances—might, indeed, have magic after all.

- This sounds like a dark tale with Grimm elements in it.
- Again this a fun combination of historical fiction and paranormal elements as well as somewhat twisted fairy-tale elements? Either way it sounds creepy, but so much fun!
- Loving the badass female power that seems to emanating from this synopsis and book cover!
- This synopsis actually sounds a bit unique compared to some of the other books releasing in YA this year. I’m excited to see what this one is all about!
